Introduction to AWS EC2 tool

AWS offers various services under several domain types in which EC2 is a tool or a service that falls under the ‘Compute Domain’. EC2 is a web-service that stands for ‘Elastic Cloud Compute’. In this particular blog, I'll be discussing two types of instances that are; ‘Reserved Instance’ & ‘Spot Instance’ and will see which is the best instance of these two.

Reserved Instance
                       
·         AWS reserved instance is a virtual server running on an Amazon Web Services EC2 and Relational Database Service (RDS).

·         The payment mode in a server instance can be done through various ways like all upfront, no upfront or the partial upfront.

·         There is a time commitment for various instances which you buy for a particular time frame either for 3-6 months or 1-3 years.

·         Reserved instance is purchased through the Google console which will be automatically applied on the on-demand instance in the case of the configuration.

Spot Instance

·          Spot instance is another type of EC2 instance but it is an unused EC2 instance.

·         This type of instance is good for those who want to use the high processing power at the low price and want it for short duration of time.

·         Spot instance is the cheapest instance which is good for a short span of time only like for few hours or for few days only.

·         This instance works on a bid pricing now by the the ‘Bid Pricing’ means putting a bid for instance and if it is available under the pricing of the hat means it has the availability.

·         In the case of higher bid pricing AWS take the initiative in pulling the instance automatically.
So as per your requirement you can make the choice between reserved and spot instance because of the instances has a different role to play and both play best at their part.
